In this video you see SeaNanners playing Trouble in Terrorist Town together with Hutch (shaun0728). They are both YouTube commentators and really really funny together. SeaNanners is just a really funny guy in all his video’s. He never takes anything too serious and is a very experienced gamer. He used to do a lot of Call of Duty gameplay video’s and Minecraft where he at first really wanted to play well, give tips and impressions to his viewers. He is currently playing more fun games such as Trouble in Terrorist Town and Hidden.

Explaining Trouble in Terrorist Town

The game has 2 kinds of players, traitors and innocents. You don’t know what other players are and the objective is to kill the other “team” (traitors kill innocents and innocents need to kill the traitors). Only the traitors know who the other traitors are. There is also a detective who can investigate murders with a DNA-scanner. The game was added as a gamemode to Garry’s Mod, which was first released in 2004 as a Half-Life 2 mod.

Innocents are always in a majority, but they have to protect themselves from surprise attacks from traitors. Players can find weapons throughout the maps. For traitors it’s important to try and get other players alone with them. This way they can murder them without anybody else witnessing the murder. Inocents need to survive and detect if other players are acting strange, or if evidence can be linked to a certain player.

WoodysGamertag is yet again a YouTube commentator who shares videos about games. He always tries to give some good advice on how to play these games well. In the below video, you see him playing Demolition on Black Ops 2. He’s using the FAL with the target finder and tries to play the objective the best way he can. When he’s able to plant or defuse the bomb, he’s always aware of where the enemy is and if it’s save to actually go for the plant or defuse. If he sees that teammates are already planting or defusing the bomb, he makes sure they have a safe window.

At one time, he calls in the Lightning Strike, but places one of the strikes outside the map. He cancels the strike, but tries to launch it again immediately Apparently the strike needs to reset before you can use it again, but when he tried to call in the strike for the second time, he was able to use the strikemap to see where the enemy is. Something I didn’t knew you could do.

Also, one thing that really stuck by me was that he’s never looking for a fair fight. He explains that he tries to avoid situations where he’s one against one, gun against gun and its basically a fair showdown between himself and the enemy. He prefers situations where he has an advantage over the enemy, a bigger chance to get the kill and to get to his next killstreak. That’s a very defensive attitude and it is really helpful to have a couple of defense-minded guys in your team. However, I’m a very attacking kinda player and that’s more my style. I’m very objective minded, but I run into dangerous situations more of the time than a defensive player. We need both kinds of players in a team!

It was a longlasting secret: “What does YouTube commentator Chris Smoove look like?“. He never revealed himself in all these years he’s been commentating YouTube video’s. He did appear twice in his early years on YouTube, but those video’s were removed because of copyright issues for the music he used in them. Other YouTube commentators appear regularly in their video’s, such as xJawz and Seananners, but never Chris Smoove. Not until Tony Parker (NBA) challenged him to play some Need For Speed Most Wanted that is.

The video is set up to promote Need For Speed Most Wanted and shows Tony Parker racing against Chris Smoove. And you actually see Smoove appear in the video, playing the game on the couch. He owns Parker throughout the whole race, but loses eventually. But most important, you get to see what Chris Smoove looks like.

Now, it is him, I’m absolutely certain about that. However, a lot of people commented that it’s a fake video, and that the guy racing against Tony Parker isn’t really Chris Smoove. Smoove himself actually talks about this “conspiracy theory” in a new video of his (when going on a mad killstreak in Black Ops 2). He explains the theory and gives some explanations on how it could be true, so he really is feeding the possibility that it could be a fake video. I just thinks he likes the anonymity and likes to be mysterious about his appearance so people won’t recognize him on the street. But it is you Smoove, I know it. And he looks like a fun guy to hang out with…

I haven’t gotten FIFA 13 yet, but a friend brought it with him this weekend and it looks really good. The speed of the game is much higher this year, more arcady, more pro evo and that’s something I really like. Probably not something real FIFA fans want to hear, but fast paced games is something that I rather play than slow, realistic ones. NepentheZ is one of the YouTube commentators who plays FIFA exclusively and posts very good and clear commentaries.

One series he’s doing for FIFA 13 is a Rise to Fame in Ultimate Team. Commentaries about his journey in Ultimate Team in each episode. Below you will find episode 1, where he gives an explanation on Ultimate Team in FIFA 13, the set-up, his squad and much more. You’ll get a lot of information and tactics from following the journey, listening to tips and tricks, watching how they play the game, so don’t shy away from watching some of these video’s. You will not find a better FIFA 13 Ultimate Team explanation.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is probably one of my favourite game series ever. I love the story, the history in the games, the different characters, gameplay, the different approaches to complete missions and the sneaking around in big cities. For some reason I never completed Revelations, and I yet have to start playing Assassin’s Creed 3. Watching Chris Smoove (Youtube commentator) play Assassin’s Creed, makes me really want to go buy the game and play it all the way through.

Chris Smoove plays a mission where he has to defend a enraged friend from the guards in the city. His commentary is never really strategic or technical, but entertaining to listen to. He is recording a lot of Assassin’s Creed 3 content, entire missions, good playthroughs and sharing that via his Youtube channel. Go and check it out!

He gives you tips about certain spots where you can easily defend spots, capturing points, lines of sights where you can easily pick off enemies. He’s also does comparison video’s between certain weapons, attachments, equipment and much more.

In this video he features the map Aftermath, where he shows you some nice spots to capture points and defend them in domination. I play domination almost exclusively as it is one of the most fun objective type games in de the Call of Duty series. A team really needs to work together if you want to capture and hold certain key spots on the map. At the start of the match, one of us would capture the nearest point, while the others run to the B-spot and try to capture this as fast as possible. Don’t all jump onto the B-spot, but have some members of your team push a little forward to keep the enemy at a safe distance.

Let’s start where we left off last week when we looked at the first features we really want to see in GTA V….

Feature 4: Improved shooting mechanic

If there’s one thing wrong with the GTA series it is this mechanic. I couldn’t keep track on how many times the auto-lock pointed my gun at a pedestrian instead of a bad guy. It was frustrating to see Rockstar not improving this when they made GTA IV. In Game Informer they had this to say about it:

“We feel like we’ve evolved it on from where we had it in any previous game a long way. And not just in terms of how it works, but also in terms of the core mechanics of how you play the game.”

This is what I like to hear from Rockstar, improving mechanics that didn’t run well in past games. Some rumours said it would be the same mechanic used as in Max Payne 3, I can’t confirm it nor can I give feedback on the mechanic since I haven’t played it (yet).

Rockstar also had something to say about the melee combat:

“It’s never going to be as big a deal as shooting with the way that we make the game, but we do want it to feel really fun and strong.”

This isn’t really a priority for me, it’s like the melee combat is as important as in “Sleeping Dogs”, though that kind of mechanic in GTA would be amazing.

Feature 5: Young protagonist

So we kind of got a young main character but we’re also stuck with two forty-year-olds. Franklin is in his mid-20′s and I like that, a young and energetic character, probably going to be my favourite. And then you have Michael and Trevor, both in their early-40′s, two guys who’s lives were infested with problems and want to start over again. And while that storyline sounds great, I’ve got a feeling that the character of Franklin is more suited for the location where GTA V is situated, the lively Los Santos.

Again, I have faith in Rockstar they’ll produce a work of art and that it will be interesting switching between characters, however every gamer is going to have his favourite character and I guess most of them can relate more to a guy in his mid-20′s who wants to move forward in his life than two “old” guys. What should be interesting is the fact that every character has his own set of special abilities, for example Trevor was a former military pilot so he can control helicopters and planes.

Feature 6: Female main character

I was surprised by how many people wanted this to happen. And it would have been a great opportunity for Rockstar to implement it in this game, especially with the three main character feature.

They could have taken a look on how the public reacts to a main female character, if they don’t want to play a female, then they’d still have the option to play with two (male) characters. This feature isn’t really a big deal for me, I guess it would be nice to see the things from a female perspective but it’s not something I’m insisting on. Girls can contribute to a heist so that’s not a problem either. So let’s see what we got? Three male characters and no girlfriends feature, did Rockstar forget about women in this game? Sure looks like that, but we can’t jump to conclusions, we have seen some females in screenshots however my guess is they won’t be playing a big part in the game, the only female I can see becoming important is Michael’s wife.

Feature 7: Co-op

So you can play with three characters at once by switching between them, but how cool would it be to be playing (whether it’s online or offline) with some friends and going through the missions and the game itself. I’m not just talking about some online missions you can play, like the hide-outs in Red Dead Redemption, but I’m talking about playing the storyline with friends. It could be an option for this game when you think about it, one can play Michael, the other one Trevor and the last one plays Franklin. You can team up to do some missions or you can “break” up and go jet-skiing with your character. The only problem with this would be that you could only play missions when the three other guys are playing as well. But besides that, this feature would be awesome!

Feature 8: Kids & animals?

Not sure where I stand on this one myself. If Rockstar wants to keep up with the high reality level they had in GTA IV, they should implement kids and animal life. But it’s also kind of inappropriate to kill animals and kids, even though it’s just a game. Killing animals isn’t new though for Rockstar. There was the hunting feature in Red Dead Redemption and now there’s also a hunting feature in Assassin’s Creed 3. They didn’t really create any noise in the media but this is Grand Theft Auto we’re talking about. Rockstar always had to face criticism from people telling them there is too much violence in their (GTA) games. Every new release comes with the same problems. Now we know Michael has two teenage kids, so my guess is there are going to be kids in the game? Wouldn’t it be weird that Michael’s kids are the only living kids in a city like Los Santos? We’ll see how this one works out.

Feature 9: More vehicles

I got bored from seeing the same vehicles over and over again in GTA IV. But there’s hope, quote from Game Informer:

“To encourage players to explore this vast expanse, Rockstar is giving them more vehicles than any other Grand Theft Auto to date. Confirmed vehicles include a BMX bike, mountain bikes, road bikes, dirt bikes, a huge variety of cars and trucks, helicopters, planes, ATV’s and jet ski’s.”

Honestly, that sounds awesome. I’m a huge fan of bikes so that’s going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see how the jet ski’s work out. The also confirmed you don’t have to wait till the endgame to take to the skies, that feature will be available early on in the game. It’s going to be exciting to try out all of these stuff, huge improvement from where they were in GTA IV.

Feature 10: Fun > realism

Not really a feature but probably one of the most important wants/needs in the game. GTA has always been a lot of fun but with GTA IV Rockstar chose to tone down the fun factor. They did made a fun comeback with the DLC package “The Ballad of Gay Tony”. When I’m talking about fun in GTA, I’m talking about purple dildo’s which you could use as a weapon or one of the biggest WTF moments in Grand Theft Auto’s history: the jetpack in San Andreas, I missed those things when playing with Niko Bellic.

I’m not saying realism isn’t necessary in video games but it should be fun as well. I have the feeling Rockstar wants to replace this kind of fun with the activities you can do, for example bowling, play darts or getting yourself drunk. Let’s just hope there are some crazy moments in GTA V, because the fun factor is one of the main reasons Grand Theft Auto has become one of the most successful franchises in gaming history.

This is our features list of what we want in GTA V, what are yours?

It’s November ladies and gentlemen. Time to hype up or bash on the latest COD-game! I’m joking, of course here. This won’t be a discussion about whether or not COD is affecting games in a negative way. Far from it actually. This time of the year, since people keep on talking about COD and the new Bond-movie (which you should see since it’s bloody awesome), I’m finding myself in a mixed position. On one side I have an urge to watch James Bond movies, on the other hand; I feel like playing this new COD-game.

How about a compromise then? A James Bond game (/shooter)!

“Ooh Michiel! Are you going to talk about Goldeneye?! Everyone has talked about that in about a bajillion blogs and retrospectives!”

No, silly you! I’m going to look at my favourite entry in the series. Nightfire!

First off; if you’re in a nostalgic haze right now and are about to purchase this game on Steam, Amazon or whatever means possible, try finding it on ps2 instead. Yes, yes, I know, “shooters suck on consoles!” Personally, I’d usually say they don’t suck, they just have less appealing controls. I bought this game on its release on ps2 and purchased it later on pc just to check if there were any major differences. I had a pretty decent pc-rig at the time, so you could imagine my surprise when I found out the game actually looked worse on pc. Not only that but it also plays worse! The menus look crappier, some missions are simply missing, there are no driving missions and did I mention it looks worse?! How do you that when you’re a nice developer known as Gearbox Software. Ooh well, I’ll stop complaining about the crappy pc-version now.

People always defend Goldeneye as one of the greatest games ever and probably the best Bond game. It’s a great game yes and maybe even a classic, but best Bond-game? Hell no! At least not in my opinion.

When you’re out there in a gameshop looking interested at a Bond game, you’ll be expecting one thing from that game: make me feel like James Bond! Are you looking at Nightfire for ps2? Good because this game has everything you need to make you feel like Bond! You want Bond-girls? You’ll get four! There’s an ass-kicking Asian lady, a lovely French operative, a Nicole-Kidman-like femme fatale and your standard Australian, hot pants-wearing hottie. But Bondgirls require awesome cars to pick them up with. Preferably one with rockets, machine guns and (fricking) laserbeams! Sorry to disappoint you. The car has an EMP-cannon, but no lasers. It is an Aston Martin Vanquish however so the lack of lasers is acceptable. Shooting rockets at helicopters and performing stunts with it also provides a lot of fun.

Still not convinced? Well of course you aren’t! We haven’t gotten to the gadgets yet. Open safes with the laser on your watch, take photos of a glamourous pair of boo… I mean a few partyguests with your lighter. Worried about ninjas (Yes, the game even has ninjas!) in the dark? Why not use the nightvision on your sunglasses? You’ll also need to keep enemies at bay so be sure to pick up one the nicer guns like 12gauge shotgun, a guided missile launcher or the elusive golden gun.

The story is also pretty nice in the fact that it acts like a real Bond-movie. You go undercover, visit a secret base (I won’t spoil where but expect it to be very “Bond-ish”.) or be betrayed by your so-called allies. There’s also some pretty good voice-casting and the developers definitely score points with the model used for James Bond portrayed by Pierce Brosnan. I do wonder however why they could get Judy Dench to voice M (or a damn good imitator) but not Brosnan himself to voice Bond? Not saying Brosnan is the best Bond but his voice always had a nice charm to it in my opinion.

And that’s Nightfire. It’s a Bond-story with all the elements and fun gameplay. A game that may not be all that realistic but does pack a lot of fun. Remember that time? When shooters were about FUN and not just realism?

Will you pick a Wii U, PS4 or XBOX 720?

If you’re on this site reading this particular article, I’m going to guess you’ll most likely be buying a Wii U. Either you’ve already made up your mind about not buying a Wii U or you decided to buy it on (or close to) launch. You’re either not interested in games like Mario and Zelda or you do love them or you just want to see what the Wii U can do for you (bad rhyme intended). But what about its competition? Will the fancy PS4 and XBOX 720 be more than an upgrade to its predecessors?

(Please keep in mind while reading this, that this is all based on opinion and assumptions.)

First let’s look at our beloved/hated evil Sony-overlords and their new monolith/console. What do we know? Well, Sony promised us a new media-interface and hardware-upgrade. Sony also likes to reiterate how they continue to please “hardcore-gamers” with games like God of War, Uncharted and undoubtedly a new Gran Turismo. I think it’s safe to say they’ll offer some decent games and some new interesting IP’s. Free online-play will probably still be available and they’ll probably expand on Playstation Plus. These are all very nice things…

…that we already have. In one way, I can think of this as a good thing. We’ll still have our beloved IP’s and it will play most big releases as well. You know that stuff all those “hardcore-gamers” keep demanding from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo (aka the big three). The thing I fear about Sony’s next console is that it will (once again) try to force Move or 3D onto us. You know, those things the big three use to lure in other non-gaming people to consoles. It’s like Sony has a small identity crisis. In one case it keeps claiming it wants to represent the hardcore-crowd while in the other case Sony likes to say:

Look at this magic wand-like joystick! You can sorta, kinda, not really control your character like if you‘re in the game itself! Also: look at this 3D that requires an expensive TV or monitor! What? You don’t have an expensive TV or monitor?! You can buy a shitty small sized 3D-monitor for only 250 bucks!

And what about the new XBOX? It will definitely give gamers lots of IP’s like Halo, Gears of War and another Forza. Benefits for xbox-live-memberships will also probably stay so you’ll be able to play your Elder Scrolls 6 DLC thirty days in advance and mock your friends who play it on pc or PS4. What else are they going to pop out of the closset? Maybe an upgraded Kinect that actually works with non-casual games. A lot of attention might go into the whole “Everything is XBOX!”-thing. I must say I look forward to my XBOX 720 which I’ll be turning on with my 500 dollar Windows Surface tablet while using my Kinect 2.0 to tell my mom in the kitchen to fetch me a sandwich.

In all seriousness though: it’s not like the integration of xbox into other devices can’t yield nice benefits to owning an XBOX 720. If it’s there: fine. If it’s there and constantly forces social-media-crap and XBOX-connectivity-shit on me; count me out.

Now you might be wondering if I myself have already made up my mind on which console to choose, based on what I’ve said in this blog so far. I’ll probably wait it out while continuing “the glorious pc-gaming-life”. What I want most are some interesting IP’s. Sony’s has offered quite a few this past generation, but most multi-platform releases seemed to perform better on the XBOX 360 which left me feeling disappointed at Sony (and developers in general). Nintendo had a new controller-system that annoyed the hell out of me but also offered many interesting IP’s at a low console-price! It really tore me up at times how the system had such great titles to offer but required me to use THAT GODDAMN WII-mote! The XBOX 360 only offered the benefit of more stability and better performance for multi-platform releases. Yes, there’s that whole awesome-online-stuff it offers but I don’t care much for online-gaming so XBOX 360 doesn’t get any bonus points for that. I don’t care much for Halo(while not denying it’s a great franchise), Gears of War and its other IP’s.

To many gamers it might simply be the matter of: does it have this one game I really want?

Which means if Dragon Quest X gets a Western release; I’m getting that Wii U on day 1!

The period leading up to a big game like Grand Theft Auto V can be equally as interesting as the game itself. Just browsing through gaming forums and blogs can lead to several hours of fun. The most asked question at this stage is “What do you want to see in GTA V?”, and despite there are many questions answered in the awesome cover story of “Game Informer” this month, there are a lot of wants and needs left for us gamers. So let’s get into it, our list of features we want to see in GTA V. This 3-piece series is written by @JeroenLinsen (Follow him on Twitter).

Feature 1: Friends & Girlfriends (GTA IV)

I guess this one is a love it or hate it story, there’s not really an in between. Personally, I loved the feature of just hanging out with your cousin or acting “crazy” with Brucie, but there’s room for improvement. We all know how frustrating it was to have just driven across the map and get a phone call from your friend who wants to hang out and he is living in the area you just came from. A solution could be a simple on/off choice in the cell-phone you’re carrying, like the one for the storyline in GTA IV.

About girlfriends, Rockstar won’t be implementing that feature into GTA V, that is if we should believe the “Game Informer” article. Sam Houser (co-founder and president of Rockstar) had this to say about it:

“I don’t think so, simply because of the nature of the characters. We weren’t sure it would work, and we’re doing lots of other new stuff.”

And though I can see where he’s coming from, that it would be difficult when you’re out controlling three characters “at once”, it would be a nice feature. The good thing is that Houser confirmed it would return in the future.

Feature 2: Player customization (GTA San Andreas)

San Andreas is 8 years old now but it seems to be timeless, to this day it is still my favourite Grand Theft Auto game. One of the biggest reasons why it was such an amazing game was the ability to customize CJ in so many ways. Want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime? No problem, just go lift some weights at the local gym. Want to roll with your homie Big Smoke? Again, no problem, go eat some fast food. The options were endless, from barbershops to lots of clothing shops, GTA SA had it all. When you look at GTA IV those options were limited with just having the option to change clothes, you didn’t even have to eat to stay healthy. It would have been a great feature for Niko Bellic (imagine Niko to go lift some weights with Brucie, awesome is the word we’re looking for).

Anyway, I had some hope they would return to the GTA SA days (outdoor gym in the first trailer), but after reading the article that hope was crushed. It said that the only feature of player customization would be changing your clothes, and again I can understand where they’re coming from, the three characters are limiting those kinds of features. Still sad though.

Feature 3: Business (GTA Vice City)

Everyone loved this feature back in the day, it’s a great way to gain some money and it would keep people away from using a cheat code to get a large sum of money. It would be nice to see this reinstated in GTA V, I know they’re going to focus on the heists (like the “Three Leaf Clover” mission in GTA IV) a lot in this game but it would be cool that you have something to run at the end of the game, in this case a business. Whether it’s a night club, like the Malibu in Vice City or a golf course (we saw one in the trailer). A life after all the heists would be interesting.

Stay tuned for part 2 next week!
